It's gonna be culture shock

Yesterday, I was on the phone with a realtor in Augusta, GA to confirm her availability when we go down next month to find a home. We were discussing the surrounding towns to Augusta and how I liked a house that was still on the market.  She made a comment about how it was so far away from MCG (the hospital Eric is going to be at). I asked how far away it is and she said 30 minutes with traffic.  According to her, that is really far away!  Hehe!  Being used to Phoenix and the Chicago suburbs, that's nothing!

Oh, and she was explaining how the Augusta real estate market worked and how another agent might have to show Eric and me some houses.  She was using other agent's names as if she was on a first name basis with all the realtors in the area.  Now, I know that you tend to meet alot of people in the same industry you work, but she just made it sound like everyone knows everyone in the area.

I feel like it's going to be a bit of culture shock when we move down the South!

Mom comes to visit!

In the beginning of March, my mom came to visit.  I surely needed a mommy fix!  It was so nice not to have to worry about cooking, doing laundry, cleaning up after ANYTHING.  It was awesome.  I wish she was able to visit more often.

We had so much cooking together, playing with the boys, working on projects and loving on Elina.

We made several shopping excursions while she was here. This is what I look like when I go out shopping.  Yes, I get lots of looks.  Most of the time, people will see the twins and say the usual, "Wow, you sure do have your hands full!"  Then, they'll notice I'm wearing Elina.  Then they'll add, "Oh my goodness, bless your heart!" I'm usually happy to say yes, they keep me busy and to chat for a bit.  Other times, I'm in a rush because it's close to nap/lunch/other event that's next in our schedule and I just feel like saying, "Yes, I know I have many little children.  Now please stop gawking and let me get around you because I need to leave before everyone (including me!) has a meltdown!

We made some scrumptious dinners.  I always learn something from my mom when we cook together. 

 

One of my favorite soups is pazole.  If you want my mom's recipe, she's posted about it here.  She never uses measurements, but she did take a picture of the stuff she used. All you do is throw all the stuff in a pot, cover it with water, and let it simmer for a few hours.

We also made Pioneer Woman's white enchiladas.  If you haven't made them, you must!

Everyone at dinner.  For a treat afterwards, the boys had pop rocks.  Carter's face is so funny! They loved the candy, but were very confused by the noise it made.

We all had so much fun while my mom was here.  Can't wait for Mimi to visit again!







 

 

A new blog to stalk!

My mom came to visit this week and while she was here we made her a blog. If you haven't met my mom, she's a woman of many talents. She is a very talented artist and can cook circles around anyone I know.

All of her children have left her and live in different states, so we thought that if she had a blog, she could share the paintings and projects she's working on and make tutorials of our favorite recipes a la Pioneer Woman style.
