Elina's 12 month appointment

At Elina's 12 month well baby visit, we learned her stats were:
weight ~ 22 lb 8 oz
height  ~ 31 inches
head circumference ~ 17.25 inches

She had a huge growth spurt and gained about 3 lbs and grew almost 3 inches. Based on this, she is in the 70th percentile for weight and 93rd percentile for height.  I don't really think she grew 3 inches.  Based on our home growth chart, I think it is more like 2.25-2.5.  Either way, she's still pretty tall!

A little more about our little girl:
  • She loves her brothers and loves to play with them.  Nothing makes her happier than running around with them
  • She loves her daddy.  She is definitely a daddy's girl.  She has him wrapped around her little pinky!
  • She loves her books.  The boys were never really into reading their books.  They would rather look at the pictures quickly and then rip them apart.  She could read her Sesame Street books all day!
  • She also likes playing with cars.  This really doesn't happen very much as the boys snatch them away as fast as they can when they see her playing with them.
  • She is opinionated and knows what she likes!  She won't use toddler silveware and if there is cup with a straw on the table, she must drink from that cup!
  • She will eat to try to match her brothers, often beating them. Such a competitive little girl!
  • She loves to snuggle when she wakes up.  She cannot leave her bed without her blankie and has to sit with you and snuggle for a little while.
  • She started walking on Thanksgiving.  She'd been talking steps here and there but Thanksgiving was really the day she was off on two feet!
  • She loves to talk!  She says dada, mama, poo-poo, please, thank-you, juice.  This is really just a sampling.  It is amazing the things she says or tries to say.  I've heard her say three word phrases before.  Oh, how I wish she wouldn't try to grow up so fast!

Merry Christmas!

We had a lovely Christmas. Eric was back up call on Christmas Eve and didn't get called in. Talk about a Christmas miracle. We went to church on Christmas Eve and spent the rest of the evening getting ready for our first Christmas by ourselves. It was so much fun!

A quick family photo before we went to the candle light service at church

The kids in the morning playing with the train table and set that Santa brought.  Santa spent hours the night before putting that thing together!

Opening up stockings

We had a relaxing day celebrating the birth of our Savior!

Fun with Grandma and Pop!

While Eric's parents were in town, we went to the new park in Evans.  The park is for children a little older than the boys, but they don't seem to mind!

I met a new friend, Kasey at the park.  Her son also goes to the Mother's Day Out Program at First Baptist of Augusta

Afterwards we went to lunch at Red Robin.  As soon as we walked in, Brandt noticed there were balloons. He is OBSESSED with balloons and will have a complete trantrum if he sees one until he can have it.  I ended up having to go ask for a balloon for the kids so we could have a peaceful lunch!

Somebody loves their grandma!

Christmas with the Groens

Eric's parents got the kids a trampoline for Christmas.  It was such a hit!  The boys love to jump and run around in circles in it!
Carter and Brandt trying it out for the first time.

Girls turn!

Later we opened up the gifts under the tree. Christmas is so much fun with children!

These cars were such a hit.  The boys love anything car or train related.

A tea set!

It was a very Merry Christmas!

Elina's Birthday

Our little girl turned 1 years old on December 13th.  I still can't believe we have three toddlers. Well, actually, yes I can.  They are running around the house all day long. She is such a character and seems to becoming more diva-ish every day.  Oh, you little girl!

Eric's parents were in town to celebrate Christmas so we doubled up the two celebrations.  Needless to say, this girl got SPOILED!

So exciting!
She loves the bear!
With cousing Madelynn
Elina got some play food.  She thought it was great until she realized it wasn't real.  That really confused her.  This girl loves her food!
Asking Pop why the food was fake!
Elina loves the play kitchen she got.  She loves to stuff the food in the oven and play with the toaster
A pillow pet!
Daddy got home just in the nick of time for dinner. We didn't know if he'd be able to make it at all!
Her cake.  It was the chocolate cake off of Kevin and Amanda's blog, It was so good! I got the decorating idea off of Pinterst (of course!)
