Discovery Place

While we were in Charlotte, we went to a Discovery Place. It has all these little areas set up for kids to play.  They love it!

I love this picture! Carter was so excited to drive the fire truck

The girls are such good pilots!

Brandt drove this car for a long time!  He's going to take after his dad and like driving around a golf cart!

First Real Haircut

The boys got their first professional haircut when we visited Eric's sister, Laura, a few weeks ago.  It's gotten too difficult for me to cut it and the professionals do such a better job!

Brandt had a crush on the lady who cut his hair

So handsome!

Columbia, SC Zoo

While Eric's parents were here a few weeks ago, we went to the zoo in Columbia, SC. It's only about an hour away and has a great zoo! It's not too big (about the same size as Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago), but had great animals. The kids had a blast.

Feeding the giraffe. Brandt loved it and Carter was a little more reserved

The boys got to ride a train with Grandma (or Grammar as the boys call her) and Pop.

Elina at 15 months

Elina had her first icee drink for being such a good girl at the doctor's
Last week, Elina had her 15 well check appointment.  Eric was working (as usual) and since I couldn't get an appointment during Mother's Day Out, I had to drag all three kids along. The appointment was at the tale end of the kids' nap at 3 pm.  I prepared for the worst since I've had to consistently wait for an hour and a half for her appointments.  If the kids didn't nap well, I knew it was going to be completely miserable. I put the kids down a little early and lo and behold, they slept until I had to wake them up to leave.  It was a miracle! I brought along a tote full of toys, books and the ipad as well as enough snacks to feed a small army and sure enough, when I asked was the wait time was for the pediatrician when I signed in, she was running ON SCHEDULE!!!  I couldn't believe it.  We hardly had to wait and the kids just watched the fish tank in the waiting room.  I didn't even need all of my emergency supplies!

Below are Miss Elina's stats at 15 months.

Weight- 25 lb 13 oz ~ 85% percentile
Height 32 inches ~ 80th percentile

Yeah, she is growing like a weed! I don't remember the boys' stats at her age, but I know they weren't in the 80th percentile.  She is definitely going to be a tall girl.  Dr. Foushee said that if she keeps growing at her rate, she will easily be 5' 9". Definitely a Groen! I'm excited to see how tall she'll be when she's two since they say your height will be double whatever it was at 2 years old.

On Saturday, Elina had a fever and was acting lethargic.  I thought it was a reaction to the MMR vaccine she received and on Sunday, she started to get a rash.  Again, I thought it was a reaction to the shot.  On Tuesday, I went to MOPs and when I picked up the boys, their teachers said that Carter had just been sitting at table for the last hour and Brandt hadn't asked for seconds of the snack.  Definitely not typical of the boys!

I got the boys home and Carter had fever of 102 and Brandt had some spots in his mouth. The next day, both boys had the rash on their feet and hands.  They have hand foot and mouth disease!  Ugh!  So we've been quarantined all week at home.  The boys even missed their Easter egg hunt.  I can't believe they caught it since I didn't think it was going around anymore.  Oh well, they should be good for Easter next week.

Some more about Elina at 15 months:

  • This little girl loves to cuddle and she gives the best hugs and open mouthed kisses
  • She still loves to play with her brothers and has begun to fight back hard when they are mean to her. Yesterday she bit Carter.  I'm not ready for three fighting toddlers!
  • She still tries to say any word
  • She loves to dance

  • Her hair is finally long enough to put in a little pony tail on top of head.  I've been waiting for her to wear bows!!! :)
