This week was very busy with doctor appointments. I had a normal checkup with my OB on Tuesday. This one was extra special since my mother-in-law was able to go to see the boys. Baby A was still in a vertex (head down) position and Baby B was still a breech position. I asked the doctor if he could give me a realistic due date and he said that if all continues to go well, we'll plan to induce/schedule a C-section the week of June 8th. How exiting and so soon! He also said that I'll start taking steroid shots at my next appointment to speed up the development of the boys' lungs. That way, if I go into labor early or there's a need to deliver them sooner than the June date, the boys will be better developed.
On Friday, I had a follow-up ultrasound with the perinatologist. Unfortunately, we had Miss Crabby Pants as our ultrasound tech. I don't understand how someone who gets to look at babies all day can be in a mad mood, but she certainly was. Eric was able to attend the appointment with me and since he came straight from the hospital, he was in scrubs. We both think that maybe she thought he was a doctor and was intimated by him. I don't know, but she didn't even introduce herself to us!
Despite the unpleasant tech, it was a fun appointment just because we got to see the babies again. Baby A weighed 2 lbs 7 oz and Baby B weighed 2 lbs 3 oz. The tech took a few measurements and noted the babies have good "practice breathing." According to Eric, this means their hypothalamuses (the breathing center in the brain) are well developed. Also, Crabby Tech Lady said there was a good amount of amniotic fluid around each baby. This is also good as it means the babies's kidneys and esophagus are development. Yaay! Below are a few pics from the ultrasound:
